The Department of Education supports schools established by the municipal district and other educational institutions. It collaborates with parents, schools, and other entities to advance education, and develops strategies for educational development in the district.

Organisation of the 2026/2027 school year

The school teaching period and the school holidays period are stipulated by Act No. 561/2004 Coll., on Pre-school, Primary, Secondary, Tertiary Professional and Other Education (the Education Act), as amended. Details regarding the organisation of the school year, as well as types, length, and dates of school holidays, are governed by Decree No. 16/2005 Coll., on the Organisation of the School Year, as amended. Information on the organisation of the 2026/2027 school year is based on the above legislation.

Classes in the 2026/2027 school year will begin on Tuesday, September 1st, 2026, in all primary schools, secondary schools, primary art schools, and conservatories.

Report cards with grades for the first school term will be distributed to pupils on Thursday, January 28th, 2027.

Classes for the second school term will end on Wednesday, June 30th, 2027.

Classes for the 2027/2028 school year will begin on Wednesday, September 1st, 2027.

Enrolment in kindergartens and primary schools
Enrolment in kindergartens
Enrolment in kindergartens for the 2027/2028 school year will take place from March 15th to April 15th, 2027, as part of the regular enrolment process in accordance with the Education Act.
