Kostnické Square
From an urbanistic perspective, the territory of the “original Žižkov” presents various types of urban public spaces (squares) – administrative, commercial, spiritual as well as residential. An example of the latter may be the Kostnické Square, a function that is emphasised by its park-like finish. Although the name was only acquired in 1889 after its completion, the Square with a typical Žižkov name featured several typical Žižkov pubs: the Šumava venue that operated for many decades, abundantly referenced Round Beldam pub near the stairs, the Heavens flophouse or the nearby Hell dive complementing the name, where the wall decorations included a portrait of reigning Lucifer.
